WHY I AM

Carlos DE-LA-CALLE-FABREGAT

Post-Doc

I am a postdoctoral fellow from Spain. During my PhD, I investigated the epigenetic mechanisms underlying monocyte-to-macrophage differentiation, uncovering key regulatory processes that shape macrophage identity and activation. Since joining Dr. Florent Ginhoux's lab in 2023, I have been exploring the impact of macrophage heterogeneity on ovarian cancer development and progression, with a particular focus on how aging influences the myeloid compartment.

My current research employs advanced genetic tracing techniques, aging cohorts, and single-cell RNA sequencing to dissect the distinct roles of macrophages of different ontogenies and their interactions with hormonal and immune factors. My goal is to translate these findings into macrophage-targeted therapies to improve outcomes in ovarian cancer immunotherapy.
